Re: Sleeve sponsor
Kettering Town were the first English side to have shirt sponsors (midseason, 75-6), Liverpool the first top tier side to do so (79-80 season) and we held out to 83-84.

Not sure we were the last, though

Re: Sleeve sponsor
When shirt advertising was introduced, weren't we the last top-flight side to get sponsors?

I mean on principle, not, as was the case on two subsequent occasions, just failing to get sponsors that didn't go bust

Happened AGAIN with Alpari a few years later as well!

Trev...lol...no mate, I was saying they probably get the shop to affix them.

Do you recall when we lost XL as out sponsor ?, we had that claret plastic square on the chest

I'm more concerned about the soapy mixture they've taken to using for the larger bubble machines. Far too powdery for my liking.

Not REALLY noticeable. There's a difference, you fucking dimwit.

It's a little red square. Hardly intrusive. Obviously it's not ideal to have ads on the shirt but almost all clubs are going to sell space where they are allowed to for sponsorship revenue and we are no exception, but if you're actually offended by it, then I'd say you're being a bit precious and you need to get a grip.

I have no doubt there will be multiple sponsors all over the kits in a few years time, but I'd suggest aiming your anger at the PL rather than our owners for that. As if any club is going to turn down the extra revenue it will bring in. Only the clubs whose current main sponsor deals prohibit another sponsor are the ones not doing it, from what I've seen. Why should West Ham have to play by different rules?

Re: Sleeve sponsor
It's not the theory of arm sponsors it's the application....the cheap way West Ham implemented the plastic sticker on the arm.....from the club shop I'd say

If it wasn't noticeable you wouldn't be talking about it you fucking dimwit.
I think it's horribly tacky. In this day and age the club hardly needs the money. It's just greed from our two-bob owners and Baroness Bitch.
It's bad enough the shirt is utterly ruined by a huge bookies logo, but now they've got sleeve ads where will it end?

and if we didnt have it the same people would likely be posting "what are we doing the rest of the league have it but were run by two bobs"

Re: Sleeve sponsor
Did not think it looked that bad. Most people around me did not even notice it. Think this will change every year for next few years and would not be surprised if different sponsors for each competition for the larger sides.

Exactly. Don't really understand how some people can be so up in arms about it.

Small red box on the sleeves- really not noticeable.

Don't Newcastle have the same as us on their sleeves?

Didn't notice them, and having seen TV highlights this morning, can't see the fuss. Hardly noticeable.

Leicester City have Toro tyres in simple letters..it's not ideal.but not tragic.
Typical WHU..can't do nothing right..ever.

Think they have missed a trick here. Things are so ridiculous now that there must have been an opportunity to get sponsors for each sleeve.

Surprised some of these players haven't had logos and brands incorporated into their daft tattoos. Actually, some probably have.

Re: Sleeve sponsor
Looks pathetic. Hopefully they remove the red and just leave the letters. Still a shambles though. Will end up like south America eventually where you are trying to find the players name amongst a sea of shit logos

Re: Sleeve sponsor
I had been relieved that we didn't have one at the start of the season. I didn't imagine we could add it after a few games.

Some look ok, such as Man City's. Some look bad, like Leicester. Ours look terrible. Swansea only sell their shirts with the patches on, I guess we will end up doing the same.
